I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the

Admiralty to transmit herewith for the information of the

Secretary of State for the Colonies, a copy of letter No.42/167 dated the 12th ultimo, with its enclosures,

which has been received from the Commander-in-Chief China,

respecting the arrangements for the patrol of the

West River.
